Why Pilates

Joseph Pilates originated in this method in the early 20th century as a rehabilitation program for veterans of the First World War. The method has evolved significantly over the years. The STOTT PILATES method has taken Joseph’s exercises and, with the help of physical therapists and various sports medicine and fitness professionals, incorporated modern principles of exercise science and spinal rehabilitation to develop one of the safest and most effective methods available.

The STOTT PILATES Difference

STOTT PILATES exercises are designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance the muscles around the joints. The STOTT PILATES method incorporates more preparatory exercises and offers the ability to modify the exercises to cater to different body types and abilities, making it available to all persons.

STOTT PILATES incorporates Five Basic Principles:

–          Breathing

–          Pelvic placement

–          Rib cage placement

–          Scapular movement and stabilization

–          Head and cervical spine placement

In conjunction with The Five Basic Principles, Pilates works to improve core strength and muscular balance throughout the body.
